Coliseum Rumble - Fall 2015
Development Roles: Game designer and game programmer on this solo project.
Engine: Unity
Players: 2
Genre: Strategy
Summary: Two players can choose between three different classes to bring into battle. Each class has a male and female that each play the same for their classes. Each class has a different set of moves that cost energy. Energy is restored naturally each turn, but each class has a different way to restore extra energy. Once in the battle, both players then must choose an action at the start of each turn and then both characters perform actions based on their class' speed. The player left standing after their opponent loses all of their health, wins.
Assets: I did not create, nor do I own, any music, sounds, sprites, backgrounds, or any art that was used to make this game.

Documentation
Design Document: The design document for coliseum rumble was made with the mind set of creating a strategy game that would include three classes with each one having a different resource to manage. Each character would be designed to have the same motives behind each attack: Their first action would be the least expensive and be their defensive move, the second action would be a unique action that would fit the character's style, and the third action would cost a lot of their resources to cast it and do big damage if it hits. A fourth class was considered to add to the document, but I decided it would be easier to focus on just three characters and then balance them out against each other.
For the art style of the game, I had pictured doing the game in a 3D environment, however I ended up using the sprites I found (they do not belong to me) online to represent each character in my game. I experimented with using the sprites and animating them in a 3D modeled coliseum, however the feedback I got from other people said that the style felt mixed and confusing. So, I decided to scrap the 3D modeled arena and replaced it with a 2D background to match with all the effects, sounds, and animations I used. |
