Company: Oxide Games
Time of Employment: July 2024 - Present Job Title: QA Analyst Testing Duties: Testing for Ara: History Untold included performing test cases, ad hoc testing, regression testing, bug investigations, personalized testing requests, and other duties. Writing up bugs involved using Azure DevOps to write up detailed bug tickets that would include descriptions of found bugs, reproduction steps, any information given from errors using Microsoft Visual Studio, supporting pictures and videos, and game build information. From Zero To Launch: When I joined the project, I had a short amount of time to learn the game from the ground up. Even with my limited experience in the genre, I was quickly able to understand the game and adapt to all of the necessary aspects needed to start testing. During this time, I was very adamant in asking questions and clarifying information given to me in understanding the game, the repository for the project, and required steps to update builds that I would be working on. All of this would lead into rapid testing of the game over and over within a month and a half leading up to the game's launch date, September 24, 2024. Release And Post-Launch: After the game's launch, I continued to test new features that would be implemented into the game. To test other builds of the game, I learned how to use Perforce. With it, I was able to acquire builds for ad hoc testing and builds that required specific testing of developers' works in progress. In some cases, I also took up the role of coordinating test cases with other testers. I would gather information on what would need to be tested and participate in the test cases as well to help cover what needed to be done. |
